Social Anxiety from the South

*tap tap tap* Is this thing on?

Here we go again!

I’m on food stamps so my opinion doesn’t matter.

Let’s reiterate…

I have…

Worked since I was 15 years old.

Paid into the system for over 15 years.

Work in the dean’s office of a respected university.

Earn an income from that same university.

Plan to use my loan dollars to earn a PhD from those federal dollars.

Paid into the system that supplies those dollars.

Am engaged to a man that supplies taxes to those dollars.

OWE TAXES EVERY YEAR EITHER TO THE STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND PAY WILLINGLY!

So.

Is this thing on, Morans?

  1. Those that never need are always the quickest to judge those that do. Makes you wonder why we let the richest people in our country make the decisions on what is best for those of us closer to the bottom of the financial pyramid.

    • In retrospect, I shouldn’t have even responded to the ignorance that prompted this post. It was obvious that the idiot who remarked on my previous article about being on public assistance did not, in fact, read the entire thing.

Sometimes the 140 character limit frustrates me and so I turn to my blog, but really, that person wasn’t worth the effort.

      Thanks for reading!

  2. I would like this, but I don’t like the fact that you’ve hit hard times and need food stamps. I hope your situation gets better with time. But it’s great that there is a system in place to help out.

Being self-employed, I am constantly in and out of make-or-break it situations. I completely understand where you’re coming from here. And screw anyone who doesn’t understand that.

    • We do okay :) I am glad I am not so desperate that even this would not be enough. I am keenly aware of the many families for whom this would be a band aid on a crumbling dam. It will not be long (I hope) before I will no longer need any assistance. At which point I will once again pay higher taxes gladly to support my brothers and sisters in need.
